This is my first post on my first ever blog. It's also the first time I've ever been engaged. I'm 31 years old and ecstatic to be able to say that I am getting Married! :) In 2014 :(
Following a couple of years of being single while everyone around me seemed to be settling down and having babies, I decided enough was enough and took the plunge into online dating.
I tried a few different sites (I strongly believe that not every site is suitable to every person and you have to be patient and try out a few) and finally started to have some 'luck' on Match.
A couple of dull dates later, I was getting an earful from my coupled-up friends about being too picky and needing to broaden my search criteria. So I increased the age range for my search by all of 3 years! I then get a lovely message from a guy who was outside of my age range and so, with my friend's words echoing in my ears, I decided I had nothing to lose and messaged him back.
The first date went brilliantly and we were soon an official couple. That was back in February 2012 and, after a whirlwind romance, we got engaged on 17th October 2012 on the beach in St Lucia with a Haribo ring (as he was too scared to bring the real ring with him in case he lost it).
We've begrudgingly settled on August 2014 for the Wedding as we both want a Big Day and Big Days equal Big Money. So, I decided to set up a blog to record my journey up to (and maybe beyond) my Big Day.
Although we've only been engaged for a few weeks, we have already picked a venue (I will write about this in a different post), paid the deposit and ordered the save the date cards.
I've promised everyone that I won't become a Bridezilla, but it will be seen over the next 20 months whether I can keep that promise.
